How to declare crypto taxes in Italy

Written by Carl Gärdsell

Before you begin: This guide assumes you have already used Divly to prepare the Italian tax forms you need to report your cryptocurrency activity.

  1. If you're filing a Redditi PF return, you'll typically need the information for Quadro RW and Quadro RT.

  2. If you're filing a Modello 730, you'll typically need the information for Quadro W and Quadro T.

Italy's online tax filing portal is managed by the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency). The latest official information about accessing your dichiarazione precompilata (pre-filled tax return) is available on the Agenzia delle Entrate website, including their guide to accessing the pre-filled tax return with SPID.

In this guide, we'll walk you through how to enter the cryptocurrency tax information prepared by Divly into your Italian dichiarazione precompilata.

Step 1: Prepare your Divly tax forms

Before logging into the Agenzia delle Entrate portal, make sure you have the correct Divly tax reports ready.

  • If you're filing a Redditi PF return, have your Quadro RW and Quadro RT information available.

  • If you're filing a Modello 730, have your Quadro W and Quadro T information available.

Keep these documents open while completing your tax return. Throughout this guide, you'll copy the values from your Divly report into the corresponding sections of the Italian tax return.

Tip: Complete one Quadro at a time. Finish a section, save your progress, and then move on to the next one. This is especially helpful if you need to report both foreign asset monitoring information and capital gains.

Step 2: Log in to the dichiarazione precompilata

Go to the Agenzia delle Entrate dichiarazione precompilata portal. You can access it from the official Precompilata login page.

The Agenzia delle Entrate website offers several login methods. In this guide, we'll cover the most common options:

  • SPID

  • CIE (Carta d'Identità Elettronica)

  • CNS (Carta Nazionale dei Servizi)

Depending on your circumstances, additional login methods may also be available on the Agenzia delle Entrate website.

Log in with SPID

If you already have a SPID digital identity, go to the dichiarazione precompilata login page and sign in using your SPID provider's credentials.

Log in with CIE

You can also access the dichiarazione precompilata using your Carta d'Identità Elettronica (CIE) from the official login page.

To use your CIE, you'll typically need:

  • A valid CIE and its associated PIN and PUK codes.

  • A device capable of reading your CIE, such as a computer with an RFID card reader or an Android smartphone with NFC.

  • The required CIE software installed on your computer, or the CieID app installed on your smartphone.

Once everything is set up, place your CIE on the RFID reader or against your smartphone, then select Entra con CIE ("Sign in with CIE") on the login page.

For more information, see the Ministry of the Interior's official guide on using Entra con CIE.

Log in with CNS

You can also access the dichiarazione precompilata using a Carta Nazionale dei Servizi (CNS) from the official login page.

Before continuing, insert your CNS smart card into your computer's card reader. When you've finished using the portal, remember to use Logout, close any browser sessions you used to access the service, and remove the CNS card from the reader.

Step 3: Open your dichiarazione precompilata

After signing in, you'll arrive at the main dichiarazione precompilata portal.

For the 2026 tax return, the portal states that:

  • 730/2026 is available for viewing from 30 April.

  • Redditi Persone Fisiche 2026 is available from 20 May, and from this date you can also begin editing and submitting your return.

If this is your first time accessing the application, you may initially see the general homepage until you choose which tax return to use. If you've already selected a return type, you'll be taken directly to the homepage for that return.

You can also view tax returns from previous years (when available). If you need to access a different tax year, select Cambia anno ("Change year") and choose the appropriate tax year.

Step 4: Choose the correct tax return

At the top of the portal, select Scegli dichiarazione ("Choose tax return"). You'll then be able to choose between:

  • Modello 730

  • Redditi PF

Choose the option that matches the Divly forms you've prepared.

If you're using Redditi PF

Select Redditi PF if you'll be entering information from:

  • Quadro RW

  • Quadro RT

If you're using Modello 730

Select Modello 730 if you'll be entering information from:

  • Quadro W

  • Quadro T

To continue, check the Ho preso visione ("I have read and understood") checkbox, then select Procedi ("Continue").

After selecting your tax return, you'll be taken to the Completa dichiarazione e invia ("Complete and submit your tax return") section. You can also refer to the Agenzia delle Entrate guide for Completa dichiarazione e invia.

Step 5A: If you selected Redditi PF

In Redditi PF, use the left-hand sidebar to select Quadro RW. Enter the information from the Quadro RW report generated by Divly, then save the section. Once you've finished, repeat the same process for Quadro RT.

If there isn't enough space to enter all of your data, select Aggiungi modulo ("Add form") in the upper-right corner to create additional pages for that section.

After you've finished entering both Quadro RW and Quadro RT, select Calcola, stampa e invia ("Calculate, print and submit") from the left-hand sidebar. This page lets you review the calculated values before submitting your return.

Follow the on-screen steps, then submit your tax return by selecting Invia ("Submit").

Note: You may see an option to enter a PIN before submitting. If you signed in using SPID, CIE, or CNS, you do not need to enter a PIN.

Step 5B: If you selected Modello 730

In Modello 730, select W - Investimenti all'estero ("Foreign investments") and enter the information from the Quadro W report generated by Divly.

Next, select T - Plusvalenze ("Capital gains") and enter the information from the Quadro T report generated by Divly.

If there isn't enough space to enter all of your data, select Aggiungi modulo ("Add form") in the upper-right corner to create additional pages for that section.

Once you've finished entering both Quadro W and Quadro T, select Calcola, stampa e invia ("Calculate, print and submit") from the left-hand sidebar. This page lets you review the calculated values before submitting your tax return.

Follow the on-screen steps, then submit your tax return by selecting Invia ("Submit").

Note: You may see an option to enter a PIN before submitting. If you signed in using SPID, CIE, or CNS, you do not need to enter a PIN.

Final checks before submitting

Don't submit your tax return until you've reviewed it carefully.

Before selecting Invia, verify that every cryptocurrency value from your Divly reports has been entered into the correct Quadro of the Italian tax return. Make sure you've saved each section before proceeding with the submission.
