Skatteetaten’s tax portal is open, it's time to declare your crypto taxes before the April deadline. This guide will focus on submitting your taxes online, but you can also send them by mail if needed.

Contact Skatteetaten:

  • Within Norway: 800 80 000 (Weekdays 9:00 - 15:00)

  • From abroad: +47 22 07 70 00 (Press 9 for English menu)

For 2019 and earlier, you must use Altinn.no and submit an RF-1159 form. From 2020 onwards, you can fill in your taxes directly on Skatteetaten.no.

Step 1: Access Your Tax Return

  1. Go to Skatteetaten.no and log in.

  2. Click on "Åpne Skattemeldingen" (Open Tax Return).

  3. You can make corrections directly on the website.

Step 2: Locate the Cryptocurrency Section

  1. Use the search bar and type "Krypto".

  2. Click on "Andre finansprodukter og virtuelle eiendeler/kryptovaluta".

  3. Select "Virtuelle eiendeler/kryptovaluta" to go to the crypto declaration page.

Step 3: Choose How to Declare Your Crypto

You will be given two options:

  • Declare each cryptocurrency separately (not recommended as it takes more time).

  • Declare all cryptocurrencies at once (recommended).

✅ Select: "Jeg vil legge inn summerte skatteopplysninger for mange virtuelle eiendeler / kryptovalutaer og må laste opp vedlegg som viser detaljer."

Step 4: Upload Your Divly Tax Report

  1. Attach the PDF tax report provided by Divly.

  2. This PDF contains all the required details for your cryptocurrency tax declaration.

  3. You can find the PDF file on your Divly Tax Report webpage.

Step 5: Fill in the Required Information

Use the values provided in your Divly tax report to complete these fields:

  • Formuesverdi (Property value): The total NOK value of your cryptocurrencies at the turn of the year.

  • Skattepliktig gevinst (Taxable gains): Total gains from crypto trades and sales in NOK.

  • Fradragsberettiget tap (Deductible losses): Total losses from crypto trades and sales in NOK.

  • Mining Inntekt (Mining income): Income from mining cryptocurrency.

  • Andre inntekter fra virtuelle eiendeler (Other income from virtual assets): Includes staking rewards, airdrops, and similar earnings.

⚠️ Note: In previous years, Mining Inntekt and Andre inntekter fra virtuelle eiendeler were combined under "Annen skattepliktig kapitalinntekt".

Step 6: Final Submission

  1. Click "OK" to return to your tax return.

  2. Once you have reviewed everything, click "Jeg har sjekket, send inn" to submit your declaration.
